Like Taylor Swift and Harry Styles (allegedly), the Atlanta-based chicken chain will never go out of style.

Plans for a new Chick-fil-A in downtown Dallas are moving forward.

A project was recently filed through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for the popular chicken sandwich chain to open a drive-thru restaurant at 1401 Elm St.

What Now Dallas reached out to Chick-fil-A for more details. In an email response, a spokesperson for the chain said, “On background, we don’t have details to share just yet, but … we’ll keep you updated … More to come.”

With a square footage of 4,720, the new construction will cost an estimated $1,200,000. According to the project filing, work on the quick service restaurant is expected to start in March 2022 and be completed by September. So, it’ll likely open sometime in the last quarter of the year and when it does, considering how long the lines can get at Chick-fil-A, it’ll be interesting to see how the traffic flow plays out.

And with a drive-thru and all, it’s sure to come as a convenience to local fans of the brand. There is currently a Chick-fil-A in Renaissance Tower at 1201 Elm St that offers curbside pickup and delivery, but you can’t dine-in and you certainly can’t drive-thru. Also, it’s only open until 4 PM. A real bummer for late night lovers of hot waffle fries and chicken nuggets dipped in zesty buffalo sauce.

Founded in 1946, the Atlanta-based chain all started with a man named Truett Cathy, a restaurant called The Dwarf Grill and the Original Chicken Sandwich. The rest, as they say, is history.

Now with over 2,700 restaurants in 47 states, Chick-fil-A serves up crispy and grilled chicken sandwiches, nuggets, wraps, salads, soups and shakes. It is also known for its extensive variety of dipping sauces and dressings.

All Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed on Sundays.
