An ice cream shop that has been selling its ice cream made fresh each day for nearly 80 years is headed to Arlington. Handel’s Ice Cream will be located at 4407 Little Rd., Ste. 700 in Arlington, according to a recent state project filing.

Alice Handel first opening Handel’s Ice Cream in Ohio in 1945. She used fruit from her garden and personal recipes to create the ice cream, according to the brand’s website.

Flavors include Chocolate Pecan, Birthday Cake, Vanilla Turtle, and Cinnamon Roll, to name a few. Sorbets and sherbets are also offered. Guests can purchase Handel’s Ice Cream flavors by the pint or the quart, in a cup or cone—Cake Cone, Sugar Cone, Waffle Cone, or Waffle Bowl—or as a shake.

Other options include sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, and Hurricanes, which include vanilla ice cream blended with a choice of candy. The Handel Pop features homemade vanilla, chocolate, or mint chocolate chip covered in gourmet chocolate and served on a stick.

The tenant for the new Arlington Handel’s Ice Cream is listed as Deric Sheriff on the filing. Sheriff owns another Handel’s Ice Cream that’s coming soon to Southlake with several others—his wife, Vanessa Sheriff; his stepson, Nicholas Clark; and Clark’s father, Peter Clark. Nicholas Clark earlier told What Now Dallas that they plan to open Handel’s locations in Arlington and Mansfield.

The new Handel’s Ice Cream in Arlington will be in a space at just over 2,300-square-feet. The space will receive a tenant finish-out, which could wrap up in the fall of 2023. There’s no official word on when the Arlington Handel’s Ice Cream might open to the public.
