A Fort Worth cidery is planning a move to a larger location. Atheneum Cider is expected to move from the current location at 12509 N. Saginaw Blvd. in Fort Worth to a new spot about six miles south.

The new location at 1029 N. Saginaw Blvd. in Saginaw is just under 2,000-square-feet. Construction is expected to begin soon to remove non-load bearing walls and add new flooring and a drop ceiling. A walk-in cooler, office, and break room area will also be added, according to a recent project filing.

Husband and wife, Brennan and Lizzy Couey, co-founded Atheneum Cider after deciding “they needed to introduce some excitement into their boring, suburban lives. Beginning as a side-project done between brewing batches of beer, it didn’t take long for cider to take over all of the kegs in their kegerator,” according to the Atheneum Cider website.

The Coueys began sharing their cider with family and friends and later opened the Fort Worth location. According to a Facebook post, they needed more space, so they decided to make the move.

Brennan has been brewing beers and ciders since 2012 and uses unique ingredients to create ciders for the Atheneum Cider menu. Some ciders include You’re Welcome with pineapple and orange, Philosopher’s Stone with cranberry and raspberry, and Pink Elephants, a raspberry lemonade.

According to the project filing, Atheneum Cider could move into the new space sometime this spring.
