There is arguably no dinner pairing more enduring than surf and turf. More than just a great rhyme scheme, steak and seafood complement each other beautifully, bringing the best of the land and the sea to the table in delicious dishes. Big Dill Hospitality is preparing to redefine the limits of this mutually beneficial relationship. The celebrated restaurant group is opening Casa Brasa in Dallas later this summer, and it’s going to change the way DFW foodies think about surf and turf.
Locals can chart the restaurant’s progress as it renovates its new home at 8111 Preston Road. Construction is actively underway, and while the required work is relatively extensive, Big Dill anticipates a September opening. A press release provided to What Now Dallas offers a glimpse at the vision of the final product, saying it will include: “an open-fire grill, raw bar, sushi counter, private event space, and a lively bar.”
While atmosphere is important, the team at Big Dill understands that the cuisine must be the star-and the hospitality group is bringing a unique vision to Casa Brasa’s fare. “Derived from the Spanish word for ember, “Brasa” evokes the timeless ritual of gathering around fire — to cook, to share, and to celebrate. At Casa Brasa, fire isn’t just a cooking method, it’s a spirit. The concept blends South America’s soulful parillas, the vibrant energy of Mexico’s markets, and the precision of Japanese fish culture into a layered, sensory dining experience. Expect prime cuts of beef, fresh-caught seafood, and sushi. Seared to perfection over open coals the menu is a celebration of contrasts: Mexican aguachiles Mediterranean inspired salads, sushi rolls with a Latin edge, and steaks with soul.”
The wholly unique concept aims to win over the hearts of Dallas diners; Big Dill states: “Casa Brasa promises to be both a neighborhood gem and a culinary destination.”
