Located at 2751 E. Broad St in Mansfield, Chick’nCone is set to open its first Tarrant County location.
It will occupy suite 113 of Broad Street Shopping Center that includes such eateries as Y-Donuts, Tropical Smoothie Café, and Hideout Burgers.
Founded in 2016 by Jonathan Almanzar and Josh Lanier, the Pennsylvania-based chain got its start as a food truck before growing to a fast-casual concept. Today, franchise restaurants are in operation across California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Ohio, and Texas. It’s even gone global with locations in Toronto and Dubai.
The first Texas location opened last year in Houston at 1919 N Shepherd Dr. Other Lone Star State locations are in Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Pearland and Sugarland.
Husband and wife team, Ontario and Cassandra Rowe, are at the helm of the Mansfield expansion. Even though construction just started, they are hoping to be open by the end of the year.
While their goal is to eventually expand the brand further into Tarrant County, the Rowes wanted to make their first franchise location close to home. “We live in the area, our kids are in schools here, and I work in Mansfield,” Cassandra told What Now Dallas. “We wanted to do something for our community.”
The Rowes were first attracted to Chick’nCone after visiting the Houston location. “We just love the concept,” said Cassandra. “It’s a fresh and unique concept. There’s nothing like it in the area. And the founders were so down to earth and genuine that we felt it would be a good fit for our family.”
Chick’nCone offers guests a convenient way to eat popular combo, chicken and waffles. Sauced boneless bite-size crispy chicken tenders are placed in a hand rolled waffle cone that is as easy to carry as it is to consume. Sauces include Cinna-Maple (for that traditional chicken and waffles with syrup vibe), mustard based Yell BBQ, and spicy South African chili Peri Peri.
Also on the menu are Chick’nTenders and a Chick’nSandwich. Sides include Caj’nFries, Caj’nCorn, and Mac’nCheese.
Participating locations offer craft beer and boozy slushys. Chick’nCone Mansfield will be one such location. The restaurant will feature dine-in, mobile ordering and eventually partner with local delivery services.
