Stop me if you’ve heard this one…a married couple with a passion for good food and silly puns applied their combined expertise to create a whimsical concept focused on bad jokes and delicious smash burgers. The punchline may still need some work, but the cuisine certainly doesn’t, as Frisco diners are soon to learn. Dad Jokes Cheesyburger is preparing to make the transition from food truck to brick and mortar, reports Community Impact.

Clayton and Gabby Jones are bringing their joyful passion project to 8981 Second Street in the space that previously housed LottieBird’s. Clayton tells What Now Dallas that he is aiming for a July opening.

Although Dad Jokes Cheesyburger is certain to be a yearlong favorite, its summer arrival is particularly fortuitous. The restaurant’s menu of smash burgers and ice cream will be a welcome addition to the warmer months. In fact, the restaurant’s ethos is one of warm nostalgia; Jones states: “It’s not just a burger joint. It’s a place to relive the best parts of growing up — sitting on a porch, cracking jokes, making memories, and eating something that’s just really, really good.”

Clayton brings more than 25 years of hospitality experience to the table, while Gabby provides marketing acumen. They’ve worked together to create something original and joyful. They explain: “We didn’t want another cookie-cutter concept. We wanted something that made people smile. Something that reminded them of neighborhood cookouts, dad jokes that make you groan and laugh at the same time, and meals that hit the spot every single time. A place where you know the names of the people behind the counter — and they know yours.”

Visitors to Dad Jokes Cheesyburger will be able to choose from a simple but classic menu. Clayton describes it, saying “We will be offering our classic smash burgers along with a veggie burger, a grilled chicken sandwich, chili and kids options like grilled cheese and hotdogs.” Guests will be able to satisfy sweet cravings with Henry’s Ice Cream from Plano and blackberry cobbler.

Dad Jokes Cheesyburger is destined to become an essential piece of the Frisco community, propelled by a straightforward but admirable mission: “create a place that felt like home for everyone who walked through the door”.
