A new opportunity to enjoy a little treat is always cause for celebration. Get ready to rejoice, then, DFW diners. A Fort Worth bakery called Heavenly Sweets by Mara is getting ready to serve even more delicious snacks across the region, when it opens its newest spot in Azle.
Heavenly Sweets by Mara, which claims it offers the “best tres leches in Fort Worth”, will be moving into a renovated space at 1137 Southeast Parkway. Azle locals will be able to see progress on the shop relatively soon; owner Marangeli Perez tells What Now Dallas that work is set to begin on the storefront next week. She is hopeful that the bakery will be up and ready for customers by late 2025 or early next year.
A quick perusal of Heavenly Sweets by Mara’s social media shows that future customers are in for a very sweet treat. The shop offers a selection of beautifully decorated cakes, cookies, and cheesecakes. Marangeli says she wants the Azle bakery to provide a taste of her Puerto Rican heritage alongside local favorites. She states: “My vision is that the people here in Azle try our pastries. I’m Puerto Rican and that’s my specialty, but I include different kinds of desserts. I want to introduce my culture’s desserts, but I want to serve what people like traditionally here in Azle.”
Thirsty visitors will be able to wash down their delicious treats with hot and cold coffee drinks. Marangeli adds that she intends to introduce frappes and lemonade once summer hits.
Heavenly Sweets by Mara will be occupying one side of a two-suite facility. Marangeli explains her plans for the full space, saying “Our place is 2 suites in one-one side is going to be the bakery the other is going to be a little venue where people can have meetings or reunions. We’re going to rent the space and we’ll offer packages with the bakery.”
While Heavenly Sweets by Mara will primarily be a grab-and-go establishment, the bakery will have limited seating available for those who simply can’t wait to savor Marangeli’s wonderful creations. She states that there will be 2 tables inside and another outside for those hoping to enjoy the scenery with their snack.
