An accomplished local restaurateur will be helping the DFW close 2025 on a delicious note. Fernando Barrera, the mind behind Dallas favorite Latin Deli, is opening his latest project, Josefina’s Cocina, in Richardson before the year ends, reports Community Impact.

The restaurant, named as an homage to Barrera’s mother Josefina Barrera Rodriquez, will be opening at 3610 Shire Boulevard, Suite 108. DFW diners won’t have to wait too much longer to stop into the restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner; Josefina’s Cocina will be holding a grand opening in December, with a soft opening planned for late November.

Josefina’s Cocina is a beautiful opportunity for Barrera to pay tribute to his mother, a woman who profoundly shaped his entire ethos. He states: “[She] raised her children…with strong values and unshakeable faith. She taught them that nothing in life comes for free, that true success is earned through hard work, respect for others, mercy and gratitude. Most importantly, she reminded them to always believe in God and put Him first in every circumstance because without God, we would not be who we are today.”

Future regulars to Josefina’s Cocina can look forward to a broad menu, kicking off the day with a selection of crepes, waffles, and omelettes. Those stopping in later in the day can feast on nachos, enchiladas, salads, and fajitas. The over 21 crowd can enjoy a drink program featuring margaritas, mezcales, tequilas, and dessert cocktails.
