A Lake Worth hibachi and sushi restaurant, Oishii Steakhouse and Sushi, has been in business more than a decade, and new owners have big plans for the restaurant. Oishii is currently operating under the same name, but a remodel planned for late December will transform the restaurant into KOBE Steakhouse and Sushi.

“We took over this restaurant because we know we can make it better,” said Tim Bae, owner. “We’re just trying to make the restaurant a lot more modern and a lot more fresh.”

Bae told What Now Dallas the remodel will shutter the restaurant doors, but hopefully, it will only take a couple of weeks before reopening in early 2023 as KOBE Steakhouse and Sushi.

“We really just wanted to offer a more upscale, more modern type of environment for a hibachi steakhouse and sushi,” Bae said. “We want to be the best. We want to be different than other hibachi restaurants.”

Bae’s partner, Alex Liu, has many years of experience in hibachi steakhouse and sushi restaurants. Bae also has restaurant experience. “We came together to partner up here in Texas and decided to take over an existing restaurant,” Bae said. “My partner and I are trying to make it more unique, make it more fun, offer better food quality, better ingredients, more fresh sushi.”

They plan to change suppliers to have airplane delivery instead of truck delivery to provide fresher sushi. “When it comes to hibachi, we don’t want the sushi to be a secondary option.” The restaurant is currently serving beer and wine, but they are working to get a liquor permit to offer specialty cocktails at KOBE Steakhouse and Sushi, which is based in Montana.
