Nena Postreria, which started as a pop-up to share desserts in Dallas, is getting a storefront. The Dallas-based pastry shop offers creations that reflect Central American and Mexican influences of owner and chef Diana Zamora’s childhood.
Many of Zamora’s sweet treats feature elaborate floral décor, which is inspired by her mother, Reyna Margarita—margarita translates to daisy in Spanish. Many of the desserts are based on her mother’s original recipes, stated the Nena Postreria website.
Zamora is a self-taught chef, and her desserts offer different textures and bold, complimentary flavors. The Nena Postreria menu includes cakes, cookies, tartes, pan dulce, and Gansitos de Gabby, which is a chocolate-coated, cream-filled snack cake with a fruit, custard, or café con leche filling.
Nena Postreria is expected to open at 4219 Bryan St. in Dallas before the end of 2022, according to a CultureMap Dallas article. The article stated that Zamora will continue to work from a commercial kitchen as the storefront opens and evolves into a bakery and café.
Zamora is also a member of Harvest Project Food Rescue, which is a grassroots organization that focuses on food waste issues and food insecurity in underserved communities in the local area.
