The Knox District in Dallas will be the first to welcome an all-new dining concept from Vandelay Hospitality Group early next year. Called The Anchor Bar, the full-service restaurant will feature a yacht club vibe with an emphasis on sushi, cocktails and other seafood items.

Set to open at 3130 Knox St, The Anchor Bar’s first location will occupy a space of 2,400 square feet. It will include a patio that seats 30, a dining room that seats 40, and a bar that seats 14. The interior will feature bright walls textured with wood elements, suspended greenery, and yacht-inspired décor elements such as portholes, mahogany paneled bars, caramel leather booths and brass accents.

A second location in Preston Hollow will follow later that year. It is set to open at 10720 Preston Rd in a 6,082 square foot space with 159 seats in the dining room and 20 at the bar.

The Anchor Bar’s seafood-heavy menu will highlight Vandelay’s famous oysters as well as the all-new offering of hand-cut maki sushi.

Starters include West Coast-inspired dishes such as the Little Sesame Salad, with dressed kale and a peanut vinaigrette, and the Grilled California Artichokes, which are sourced from farms in Sonoma County.

Sushi-wise, there will be classic sushi favorites like the Rainbow Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Pressed Toro Roll. More unique sushi offerings like the Coconut Shrimp Roll and the Crispy Rice will also be available.

Entrees include Vandelay’s famous cheeseburger and the Anchor Bar Filet, a center-cut tenderloin served with sesame salad, as well as Seared Diver Scallops, embellished with a tarragon vinaigrette salad and roasted beets, and a Miso Glazed Arctic Char.

The Anchor Bar’s drink menu and wine list will include an entire section devoted to the “World’s Coldest Martinis.” The section features nine different takes on the classic cocktail including an Espresso Martini, a fusion of top-shelf vodka and almond espresso, and the Lemon Drop Martini, made with lemon vodka, lemon juice and fresh zest. Other cocktails include the famed Frozen Bellini, and the Lovers Mule, a mix of cucumber vodka, fresh lime and ginger beer.

The Anchor Bar will also accommodate sushi to-go orders with Vandelay’s own twist on the bento box.

Founded by CEO Hunter Pond in 2012, Vandelay Hospitality Group’s fast-growing restaurant collection includes East Hampton Sandwich Co., Hudson House Restaurant & Raw Bar, Drake’s Hollywood, Lucky’s Chicken, D.L. Mack’s, and soon-to-launch Brentwood (opening Summer 2022).
