A popular fast casual restaurant franchise that got its start as a halal cart on the streets of New York City is expanding with a new North Texas location.
Opening at 4880 Eldorado Pkwy in Frisco, The Halal Guys will occupy suite #300. Per a recent permit filing, renovation work on the restaurant space of 1,500 square feet is expected to start in June and be completed in October.
Shezad Jiwani, franchisee and area developer for The Halal Guys in North Dallas, is bringing the new restaurant to the area. He has previous franchise experience with Paciugo and Jimmy John’s. An exact date for the Frisco location has not been confirmed, but Jiwani is aiming for a fall 2022 opening.
There are currently seven Halal Guys locations across the DFW area in Arlington, Carrollton, Dallas, Irving, Plano, Richardson and Southlake. Three of those are owned and operated by Jiwani.
Started in 1990 by three Egyptian guys in NYC, The Halal Guys offers authentic American halal food such as chicken, beef gyro, and falafel platters and sandwiches. The brand has seen significant growth over the years becoming the #1 Most Yelped eatery in NYC and #3 in the entire United States. It has over 400 new restaurants in development worldwide.
