For nearly as long as there have been restaurants, surf and turf have gone together like peanut butter and jelly. A popular Dallas restaurateur is re-envisioning the limits of that particular symbiotic relationship with his latest concept. Joseph Palladino is fusing Italian dishes, steakhouse favorites, and sushi in Palladino’s Steak & Seafood, coming to Dallas late next year, reports Culture Map Dallas.

The restaurant will be taking over the 9,848 square foot space at 5959 Royal Lane Suite 635 that previously housed Spec’s Wines, Spirits, and Finer Foods. Unsurprisingly given the difference in operations for the incumbent versus incoming businesses, the work required for the change-over is relatively extensive. Paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation describes it as: “construction of interior walls /partitions, wall fixtures, flooring, ceiling, light fixtures and mechanical ,electrical and plumbing”.

Work kicked off on Palladino’s Steak & Seafood earlier this year-April 20, to be precise. The project is set to wrap by October 30, and Palladino anticipates a winter opening for the innovative steakhouse.

Palladino’s will cut its teeth in New York City; the concept is launching its initial location in the Empire State this summer. Though DFW diners will have to wait a little longer to try its cuisine, their patience will certainly be rewarded; Palladino states: ““I intend to bring a very special steakhouse to the city, one that the locals can embrace.”
