While it is difficult to know with any certainty what 2026 will bring, DFW poultry lovers can take comfort in one certainty of the new year-Popeyes is coming. The chicken giant, which has been delighting diners since 1972, is planning to plant stakes in Tarrant County next year.

The fast-casual eater will be serving hot fried legs and fillets in a newly-to-be constructed storefront at 3712 Cheek Sparger Road. Paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows that construction is set to begin on the 2,540 square foot building on December 1 of this year and should conclude by August 31 of 2026. This does not provide an absolute timeline as to when precisely Bedford residents can sink their teeth into Popeye’s signature fare, however it does strongly suggest that the restaurant will be ready to serve customers by autumn of next year.

To paraphrase the brand’s incredibly catchy jingle, fans have been loving that chicken from Popeyes for the past 53 years-so much so that the chain now has more than 4,000 worldwide locations. As more and more brands gravitate towards hot chicken or other unique variations on the general poultry theme, Popeyes has maintained its enduring popularity by continually doing what it does best-making delicious southern fried chicken.
