The name on every DFW-area food writer’s lips today is “Portillo’s”. The chain, celebrated for spreading the flavors of Chicago beyond the confines of the Windy City, is preparing to open its first location in Dallas proper, reports Culture Map Dallas.

Portillo’s announced that it will be joining the Galleria Dallas at the intersection of Dallas North Tollway and Southern Boulevard. The restaurant will be serving up its signature fare in a 6,250 square storefront. Guests can look forward to both indoor and outdoor seating, with space for up to 120 visitors inside and 40 patrons will be able to dine al fresco. Wondering what else is in store? Portillo’s has you covered. The official announcement states the new location: “will feature our new Restaurant of the Future look and feel…Want to take your food to go? No problem. We’ve got our signature double drive-thru lanes and Portillo’s Pick Up shelves, as well as a Grab and Go retail area.”

Work will be moving relatively fast on the Dallas storefront. According to the Portillo’s website, the restaurant anticipates opening later this year; as 2025 is dwindling, diners will likely have to wait until pretty late in the year.

Portillo’s has been representing the Chicago food scene with pride since 1963. While the chain is well established for hot dogs, its cuisine transcends the simple frankfurter. The menu also features beef and sausage sandwiches, chicken, burgers, salads, and pastas.
