There is, arguably, no cuisine more all American than the hot dog, whether it is a sandwich or not. While Chicago has undeniably perfected that particular treat, the DFW can still enjoy a taste of the Windy City in a bun. Portillo’s, an acknowledged expert on the hot dog scene, is bringing Chicago franks to Grand Prairie later this summer, reports Culture Map Dallas.

The hot dog impresario will be setting up shop at 3102 South SH 161, in the remarkably named Epic West Towne Crossing at West Warrior Trail. While a precise opening date is not yet available, locals can look forward to sinking their teeth into a hot and fresh dog at some point in mid-August, according to the powers that be.

A press release from the chain provides some tantalizing peaks at what lies in store for the region, saying: “The location is set to be a “Restaurant of the Future,” designed with a Southwest garage theme. The 6,250 square-foot restaurant will feature seating for 160 guests, as well as a double drive-thru lane, Portillo’s Pick Up shelves and Grab and Go area to accommodate off-premise guests.”

Portillo’s has been charming hot dog aficionados since it entered the dining scene in Illinois in 1963. The chain has expanded to include 95 storefronts across the United States.
