When the temperatures outside begin to drop, an innovative sushi concept will be heating up the DFW dining scene. Franchisees Brian Paul and Anthony Krall are bringing Rock N’ Roll Sushi-a concept that approaches the titular dish with whimsy and creativity-to Mansfield this winter, and it’s only the beginning.
Brian Paul generously carved out some time to speak with What Now Dallas about bringing reimagined rolls and hibachi to the area. He explains that while he is in the process of preparing to move to Texas, his best friend and business partner Anthony Krall has been working on crossing the Ts for their first storefront. “It looks like we are going to be in Mansfield Town Square.” he says. “We found the location yesterday and we’re looking at getting the ball rolling on it. There’s a huge development next to it that’s going to be a huge shopping center, right off Broad Street.”
Paul and Krall are signed on to open three Rock N’ Roll sushi locations in total. The partners haven’t landed on specific spaces for the next two storefronts, however they have certain neighborhoods in mind. Paul states “We’re both going to be living in Waxahachie, and I know for sure we’re going to do one in Waxahachie as well. Number 3, we’re looking at potentially Waco.”
Paul and Krall were drawn to the distinctive nature of Rock N’ Roll Sushi. The chain’s infectious energy and original approach to a sometimes alienating cuisine offers something wholly unique to the DFW dining scene. Paul states that he and Krall were vetting franchises and Rock N’ Roll jumped out. He says: “We fell in love with it-we started doing some research, and this one really popped up on our radar. And we think Dallas has such a great opportunity for a scenario like this. I think the lively branding behind is a perfect fit.”
He adds that the atmosphere manages the impressive task of feeling both hip and inviting. “We liked how warm and welcoming it was when we walked in. We thought the food had all these unique flavors-it was trendy and there wasn’t a lot comparable to it.”
Of course, a restaurant is only as good as its menu, and Rock N’ Roll Sushi offers something truly extraordinary. Many diners find the beloved dish challenging and don’t know where to begin with it. Rock N’ Roll Sushi offers something a bit more approachable. Paul explains: “This sushi kind of has a southern vibe to it. They use some ingredients that I wouldn’t see on the West Coast. People won’t feel intimidated walking into this sushi place like they might at a place that sells high-end sushi. Everything just makes you feel real comfortable when you walk in.”
While Paul and Krall are focused on opening the Mansfield location, they also have their eyes on the horizon. Paul states that they’re hoping to have the second storefront open by September of 2026, and-ideally-all three will be up and running within the next two years.
