It appears as though a second Portillo’s is being planned for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. According to a project filing, Portillo’s could open at 1955 Central Expressway North in Allen sometime in the spring of 2023.

Texas’ first Portillo’s location is currently under construction at Grandscape in The Colony. It could open sometime later this year. The new 7,700-square-foot location in Allen would include new, ground-up construction with indoor seating, as well as an outdoor patio and a drive-thru.

Portillo’s is well-known for its signature Chicago-style hot dogs. The menu also features Italian beef sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, burgers, salads, and pastas. Crinkle-cut fries, onion rings, soups, and chili are also on the menu. And, don’t forget dessert! A variety of shakes and cakes, such as the Chocolate Éclair Cake, are available.

Founder Dick Portillo first opened his hot dog stand previously known as The Dog House in Villa Park, Illinois in 1963. In 1967, The Dog House was renamed Portillo’s and moved into a new building. The brand now has dozens of locations across Illinois and eight other states including Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
