It is said that good things come to those who wait, and no one knows that better than a beer brewer. Homebrewer Kuumba Smith is about to prove the adage true; after around 2 years of planning, permitting, and development, Smith is getting ready to open his passion project, Smittox Brewing, in Dallas, reports Culture Map Dallas.

Construction is underway on Smittox’s home, located at  930 East Clarendon Drive. The completed brewery will feature a bar, indoor seating, a patio, and a storefront for merchandise. Smith is very clear about the environment he hopes to cultivate. He describes it, saying: “My vision is to have a comfortable, laid-back spot. Smittox is heavily influenced by our love of music, with a focus on hip-hop. This will be reflected throughout the tap room. I thought it was a great opportunity to be a part of a growing community. Oak Cliff has some wonderful people, as well.”

Smittox will be occupying just under 4,000 square feet of space. Work is set to wrap by October of this year, suggesting Dallas beer enthusiasts may be able to enjoy a Smittox beer in its own taproom before the end of 2025.

Smith first began brewing beer as a hobby in 2013. A seed of greatness was grown from that first casual experiment, and the brewer has gone on to collaborate with Vector Brewing and Oak Cliff Brewing, as well as winning the 2018 Martin House Brewing Riverside Shootout competition.
