In news that is certain to make many DFW diners throw their hats in the air and holler “yee-haw!” in delight, popular cowboy sports bar the Rowdy Cowboy is planning a new DFW location. The Texas favorite is bringing its signature food, drink, and pretty ladies to The Colony later this fall, reports Community Impact.

The work necessary to turn the space at 5005 SH 121, Suite 101 from the ersatz Playmakers88 Bar & Grill into Rowdy Cowboy is already underway. The turnaround is anticipated to be rapid; paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows that renovations began on September 9 and should be wrapped by October 9. The work required for the 6,786 square foot space is not extensive; the form describes it as “Bar reconfiguration. Conversion of 2 storage areas to a walk-in cooler and a keg room.”

The Rowdy Cowboy began serving Texas in Grapevine in 2024. The Colony location will be the concept’s third storefront, joining the original Grapevine spot and another in Round Rock on the Rowdy Cowboy’s roster.

The website established for the upcoming The Colony Rowdy Cowboy shows that the chain’s newest home will offer the delicious Texas-style bar food customers have come to expect alongside 32 beers on tap, 64 TVs, and of course the “rowdy cowgirls” servers, who will dress in various theme night ensembles.
