The Murphy dining scene may have lost one taqueria, but another is rising to take its place. Torchy’s Tacos, known for its commitment to making “damn good” iterations of the titular dish, is opening a new location in the neighborhood, reports Community Impact.
The Austin-based chain will be filling the void left by Taco Cabana, both culinarily and physically. Torchy’s will be serving guests out of the aforementioned restaurant’s old home at 104 FM 544. Paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows that work began on interior renovations for the eatery on December 2, 2024. The project is set to wrap in May of this year.
The building will provide Torchy’s with 3,871 square feet to prepare and serve its signature fare.
Torchy’s sets itself apart both through its dedication to superior fare and by its covenant with the local communities it serves. The civically minded chain’s website explains that supporting its neighborhoods is essential to it, stating: “Each one of our stores is actively involved in helping the community around them.”
Of course, Torchy’s recognizes that one of the most powerful ways of forging great relationships with its neighbors is through delicious food, made with fresh and sustainable ingredients. As the site succinctly says: “Though each Torchy’s location has its own unique and different design, the commitment to top-notch ingredients is found in all our kitchens. To serve up the best of the best, we focus on developing partnerships around the world to responsibly source the finest ingredients. We believe in our fine partners, their missions, and putting our best food forward together.”
