The taco is the unsung hero of the fast-casual scene. Burgers, chicken, and fries are arguably the stars, but the taco brings a level of versatility and dependability that is impossible to argue with. Velvet Taco, a chain committed to exploring the full potential of the beloved dish, has signed a lease for a new DFW location, certain to scratch locals’ itches for the delicious cuisine.
The chain is setting up shop as part of the Shops at Chisholm Trail Ranch shopping center. An official address is not yet available for the storefront which will be erected in conjunction with th development located at the intersection of Chisholm Trail Parkway and McPherson Boulevard. A pamphlet for the Shops at Chisholm Trail Ranch shows only that Velvet Taco is in development and “coming soon”. However the location is not yet featured on the brand’s website, suggesting the restaurant is still, in fact, in quiet early development.
Leasing documents show that Velvet Taco will be occupying a 2,500 square foot storefront. The terms of the lease state that it goes into effect in April of 2026, which may provide a general notion of when the eatery is anticipating opening.
Velvet Taco is a Dallas native, so the upcoming Fort Worth location will be something of a homecoming for the concept. The first location was opened in Dallas in 2011. Fueled by fearless and inventive approaches to the titular dish, the chain has expanded to include 46 locations spread over 7 states.
Velvet Taco has made a name for itself through its use of fresh ingredients and its fusion-heavy interpretations of tacos. The website sums up the restaurant’s ethos, saying “Velvet Taco is a temple to the liberated taco. We’re a one-of-a-kind taco concept serving premium food in a unique & funky fast-casual setting. Founded on the idea that tacos don’t have to be associated with Tex-Mex cuisine and can be made with the same care and quality ingredients as fine dining, Velvet Taco is where “anything goes meets the art of the possible.”
