Wayback Burgers is opening a new location in Leander, Texas. It will be located in the Shops at Leander Ridge development at 3651 U.S. 183. According to a Sept. 20 release, the restaurant is set to open in mid-2022 and will bring 30 new jobs to the area.
The lease was signed by Melvin and Bonnie Diwadkar, who are already a part of the Wayback family. They also own the Round Rock location of Wayback Burgers.
Based in Connecticut, the chain is known for its fresh beef cooked to order, old fashion hand-dipped milkshakes, salads, chicken, fish, turkey and garden burgers, and house-made potato chips.
Wayback currently has 12 locally owned franchises in Texas. A Cedar Park location, also set for a 2022 opening, will bring the total count to 14.
“We are pleased to continue the expansion of the Wayback Burgers brand with the lease signing announcement of our Leander restaurant,” Patrick Conlin, president of Wayback Burgers, said. “With operations in 32 states and new restaurants extending our footprint nationwide, it is an exciting time to be a part of the Wayback Burgers brand, especially in Texas!”
Despite the uncertainty and turmoil created by the pandemic, Wayback achieved continued growth in the first half of 2021. The hometown burger joint is one of the nation’s fastest-growing franchises and saw a systemwide sales increase of 38.8 percent and a comparable store sales increase of 39.42 percent.
Founded in 1991 in Newark, Delaware, Wayback Burgers operates in 31 states with over 166 locations nationally and internationally in Brunei, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Pakistan, The Netherlands and Manitoba, Canada and Ireland. The company is planning to open in 38 more provinces/countries, including the Middle East, Northern Africa, South Africa, Bangladesh, Ireland, Japan, Germany and in Canada, Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
