Benzina, the Italian restaurant located at 4839 E Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80220, took to its Instagram to announce that they will stay till May 3rd. Earlier in February, the restaurant announced its closure due to various reasons. After that, with support and requests from their loyal customers, they decided to stay open.

Benzina is one of the top restaurants in metro Denver. It started in 2021 in a former gas station and muffler shop. During its course of time, the restaurant witnessed highs and lows. Due to rising financial challenges, the owner, Brad Anderson, decided to close the outlet.

Instead of a sudden closure, he announced it in February and decided to serve the customers for a few more days. But the situation took a surprising turn. Regular customers and new visitors gave overwhelming support to the restaurant. They spoke with the owner and praised the food, showing their appreciation and requests to stay.

In view of the situation, Benzina will continue to serve till May 3, 2025. The numbers during this time will decide its future.

When and Why Benzina Announced the Closure

In mid-February, Benzina announced its closure in March end through an Instagram post. Brad Anderson, the owner, expressed his bleak outlook. He stated that he has been in the Denver food industry since 1981, both as an employee and employer, but has never seen this kind of situation in the industry.

Anderson shared that the cost of labor, food, rent, and property taxes has been more challenging after COVID-19, as compared to four years ago when they started the business. Big multi-unit food operators have made the market very competitive for small businesses. Even the negligence by Denver authorities has made it challenging for individual businesses to survive.

The support of the community and the resilience and dedication of the restaurant team saved a local business from vanishing. Diners can now continue to visit and enjoy the essence of Italian cuisine in the vibrant local dining atmosphere of Benzina.
