Looks like Denver’s Urban Land Conservancy (ULC), Denver Public Schools (DPS), and Denver Housing Authority (DHA) have just purchased Johnson & Wales‘s former 25-acre campus with a plan to preserve the purchased land for community purposes with goals of education, economic development, and housing.
Denver’s Urban Land Conservancy (ULC) submitted the proposal in partnership with Denver Public Schools (DPS) and Denver Housing Authority (DHA).
Denver Public Schools (DPS) now owns the West side of campus, while Denver Housing Authority (DHA) owns the South portion of campus, and Urban Land Conservancy (ULC) owns the East side.
Urban Land Conservancy (ULC) plans to partner with St. Elizabeth’s School, which “has been serving Northeast Denver for 15 years as an intentionally inclusive school with a dedication to equity, belonging, and educational opportunity for all students,” according to a recent press release, as well as partnering with BuCu West/The Kitchen Network and Archway Communities.
All of these organizations aim to serve the Denver community. BuCu West/The Kitchen Network is “Denver’s longest-running shared kitchen, which incubates specialty food businesses” and Archway Communities “elevates lives by providing affordable housing [and] food security.”
In the same press release, ULC’s Vice President of Master Site Development, Erin Clark said: “As a Denver native who spent part of my childhood around the corner from this campus and who watched my mother graduate from DU Law School there, I am immensely proud to have been involved in preserving this longstanding community asset.”
