Café Miriam, a popular local French-Moroccan café, is opening a second location in Uptown this January. Known for its crepes, coffee, and Moroccan-inspired dishes, the new café is in the works to open at 1707 Lafayette St, according to Business Den.

The original Café Miriam, located near City Park, was founded by Touhami Elfahdi. A family-owned joint, it quickly became a local favorite after opening in 2017. Revamping the Lafayette Street building, which used to be a Waffle Brothers, cost around $140,000.

With a much larger 1,700-square-foot space across two floors, the Elfahdis plan to bring their signature menu—featuring crepes, sandwiches, and traditional Moroccan tagines—along with new offerings like pastries from renowned chef Pascal Trompeau, and Moroccan mint tea.

Its Uptown location will initially operate on weekends and plans to open full-time in the spring. The Elfahdis envision hosting events like Moroccan dinners and movie nights as part of their community-focused approach for the space.
