Capitol Hill residents will have another neighborhood nook to check out once a new Cheesman Park concept is complete. Tears-McFarlane Café will be located at 1290 N Williams St. on the park’s northern border, according to records.

The establishment will be on the grounds of a historic Denver mansion, the Tears-McFarlane House. An 8700-square-foot Colonial Revival home that overlooks the park, it is now the headquarters for the Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods (CHUN) organization.

On the CHUN website, a recent announcement from Vice President Andrew Rogge shared that plans for a new build structure had to be abandoned due to costs and permitting issues. Investors for the project are now focusing on remodeling an existing annex on site.

The LLC behind the new concept was recently granted a liquor license approval from the state after being submitted months ago. Beer, wine, and cocktails will be available for purchase at the café.
