Last June, a fire ripped through Dozens restaurant, severely damaging the business that’s been loved by locals for over 35 years. But Westword recently reported that the eatery is being resurrected in a nearby space at 323 14th Street.

The new spot will be open “fall at the earliest”, according to a post the business made on Facebook. It is the former home of Greedy Hamster pub. Dozens’ old property is located just blocks away at 236 W. 13th Ave.

After the accidental fire happened, owner John England started a GoFundMe to help employees cover their rent while out of work — it raised nearly $10,000.

In October of last year, the company broke the bad news that due to insurance problems, they could not reopen the 14th St. spot. By April of this year, they had secured a lease at the 1,636-square-foot new building.
