After an extensive five-month search for a standalone location, Chef Bo Porytko and his team have decided to return Misfit Snack Bar to its former home. The concept will be back inside the Middleman cocktail bar at 3401 E Colfax Ave., Westword reports.

Porytko announced the exciting news on Instagram, reflecting on the journey and how much he missed the space. “After some soul searching (and lots of actual searching), we decided we missed you all too much and thought it was high time to return home to the space we love in the Middleman kitchen,” he wrote.

The original decision to move out was due to wanting a larger kitchen space. He was quoted by the Denver Post as saying that rents are too high in the city to actually secure a spot for the business, and that construction on Colfax also made the search for a property difficult.

Misfit Snack Bar has gained recognition for its imaginative take on bar fare, offering a rotating lineup of fun finger foods such as fried bologna sandwiches, elote ramen, kimchi croquettes, and currywurst Scotch eggs. The menu for the reborn Misfit Snack Bar will be a soft launch of a few of the fan favorites, and others will slowly be reintroduced back in.

Porytko’s journey in the Denver culinary landscape includes his previous venture Rebel (which closed in 2021) and Molotov Kitschen + Cocktails, which he launched in January 2023. He received a James Beard nomination both this year and last year.
