A Loveland laundromat originally built in the 1960s is getting a makeover. Mike Wood owns the new Loveland Shop n Wash and has several concepts planned for the space.

Wood told What Now Denver the previous owner renovated the space, and then COVID hit. The laundromat struggled for about two years. Wood took over the lease about a month ago. “What we’re doing is bringing it back,” Wood said.

And Loveland Shop n Wash will offer more than just laundromat services. Wood has sectioned off the front area for retail space and plans to bring in local merchants to sell collectibles and antiques. That area is expected to open sometime in early May.

A soft opening for other services is planned for later this month, and Wood will add a folding service in late May or early June.

The space will house about 40 laundry service units and three self-service dog wash stations. “And the other thing we’re doing is putting a mini convenience store inside the laundromat because there’s no convenience store around here,” Wood said.

After taking over the lease, Wood questioned what the space could hold. “What does the neighborhood need? And I feel great because I think I’m supplying a lot of exactly what the neighborhood wants, and we’re still keeping the laundromat.”

Loveland Shop n Wash will be located at 540 N. Jefferson Ave., Loveland, CO 80537.
