A new google listing called “Norm’s Diner” can be seen at the previous YUM Kitchen location in Detroit’s West Village at 8029 Agnes St. A menu page created by the business suggests the diner will serve breakfast, brunch, and lunch.

Business registration records from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs suggest the diner is owned by Detroit residents Danielle Norman and Elise Gallant. Norman confirmed her business ownership with What Now Detroit but refused to share any additional details regarding the upcoming business.

The address was previously YumVillage’s West Village location. YumVillage is an Afro-Caribbean food concept created by Nigerian and African-American chef Godwin Ihentuge, who told What Now Detroit that the team had challenges working with the landlord and eventually stepped away. There are currently one other YumVillage location in Detroit at 6500 Woodward Ave, and two locations in Columbus and Cleveland, OH.

Before it was YumVillage, the address also belonged to Detroit Vegan Soul, which closed in 2022.
