Joe Vicari Restaurant Group has plans for the JW Marriot under construction on the riverfront.
The newest project from the group is Andiamo Italian Chophouse coming to the new JW Marriott Detroit Water Square, 100 Steve Yzerman Drive. This will be the second Andiamo location downtown, the first being at the Renaissance Center. The restaurant inside the 25-story hotel will open once construction is complete, which is around January 2027.
The announcement came from the Sterling Group, which heads the Water Square project. It is connected to the Huntington Place convention center, and Andiamo will join a lobby bar at the hotel. This follows the opening of The Residences Water Square in February 2024, and is part of the group’s efforts to build up the west riverfront into an established neighborhood.
Joe Vicari Restaurant Group is one of the leading hospitality companies in Detroit, with names including Joe Muer Seafood, Birmingham Pub, The Statler, the Bronze Door and Vito’s Italian Bakery. The menu for the new Andiamo is expected to be similar to other locations, with wines, filets, lamb and pasta. The Italian restaurant is also in Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, in Warren, Fenton, Livonia and Bloomfield Township and Clinton Township.
