The owners of La Patagonia are eager to introduce their new restaurant to the community.

The restaurant will be opening at 18000 E 9 Mile Road in Eastpointe. This is bringing Argentinian cuisine like empanadas, patatas bravas and alfajores de maicena. There is no opening date yet, but right now it is listed as arriving in October.

“We grew up with the flavors of Argentina, and opening this restaurant is our way of bringing a piece of that heritage to metro Detroit,” says the recent post.

Owner Diego Adrian Tula is from Patagonia and has been planning the new business for a year-and-a-half, quitting his job in February to pursue the venture. He is joined by Victor Navarrete who has been in the restaurant industry for 12 years and started off as a cook. The two are bringing flavors from Central and South America to the Detroit suburb.

Getting a kitchen to set up shop was a long process, according to Tula. He and staff were looking for locations in Ferndale and Royal Oak, but after delays they ultimately found a vacant kitchen in Eastpointe. This is at the corner of E 9 Mile Road and Wilmot Avenue.

The menu is available online, with empanadas, sides like patatas bravas and salsas being the main options. Desserts, combo meals and soft drinks will also be available. The whole menu is not finished as there are more items being added daily.

The hours of operation will be 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sundays. Right now, staff are waiting for the last permit from the city to fully launch. For more information on the restaurant, visit their Facebook page.
