An American restaurant chain is yet to open on the south side of Lansing.

WITL, a news station for Lansing, recently reported that there is a sign in front of the building at 6525 S Pennsylvania Avenue stating Bob’s Big Boy will open “soon.” This follows the announcement in 2023 that a new Big Boy restaurant would be opening in Lansing. There is no confirmed opening date, but residents are waiting.

When speaking with Michael Wylie in business development at Big Boy Restaurants on the phone, he did not provide a comment except that the location is not open.

Big Boy started as a hamburger stand in 1936 in Glendale, California, continuing to expand until today, and the company now has 96 locations around the world. There are around 18 locations in the Detroit area alone.

The restaurant is known for classic American diner food, selling burgers, patty melts, sandwiches and wraps, as well as breakfast dishes like pancakes, waffles and desserts.

The location is listed on Google at the 6525 S Pennsylvania Avenue address. It will be across the street from Asia’s Finest restaurant, Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Big John Steak and Onion. Recently, there have been job board postings for various positions put online, but there is no official announcement.

What Now Detroit has reached out to the Big Boy marketing team, and this article may be updated.
