Big Rock Italian Chophouse is slated to open next year after Big Rock Chophouse was closed and sold in 2021 by previous owners Norm and Bonnie LePage.

Cameron Mitchell Restaurants will open the restaurant, cigar lounge and club at the former Grand Trunk Western Railroad Depot at 245 South Eton Street. It will be opening in summer 2024.

Cameron Mitchell declined immediate comment on Saturday.

In a press release, the Italian Chophouse states it will offer private dining rooms, three bars, outdoor seating for more than 100 people, and roughly 375 indoor seats. The restaurant will be 11,000 square feet and feature a curated menu of prime steaks and chops and handmade pastas, as well as wine, an extensive bourbon collection and signature handcrafted cocktails.

According to the press release, the new restaurant is a $10 million dollar joint venture with several local investors.

Cameron Mitchell Restaurants has been behind several restaurants in Michigan, including Cameron’s Steakhouse in Birmingham and Mitchell’s Fish Market in Livonia, Lansing, Rochester Hills and Birmingham, which were sold to Ruth’s Hospitality in 2008. Cameron Mitchell Restaurants also introduced the first Ocean Prime in Troy 15 years ago, and has since opened 17 more across the country.
