A coffee shop opening near the Detroit Airport is set to bring people together in Romulus.
Harmon Grounds Cafe will be opening at 31258 Ecorse Road this winter. The company is currently a pop-up operating around Southeast Michigan. Owner Wendy Harmon told What Now Detroit she is aiming to debut the location in December.
The new space is meant to be a place for art, wellness and connections. Work is being done on the inside, including a mural being painted. It is meant to have a 70’s vibe, and it will help people “remember the simple things in life,” Harmon explained.
“We want to make you laugh and get out of the house,” Harmon said.
The coffee pop-up has been around for two-and-a-half years, serving freshly roasted brews. The menu for the new location will be different, serving macchiatos, espressos and teas. Foods like pastries may also be added to the menu.
Harmon said she is attending the Columbus Coffee Festival this weekend to promote her business. In the past, she has showcased her coffee at events like the Greater Romulus Chamber of Commerce Open House, and more recently the Digital Empowerment Summit in Detroit.
Along with organizing the coffee shop, Harmon also manages two other businesses, Wendy’s Beautique and Wellness with Wendy as a massage therapist. This new venture will have her even busier, but she is up to the task with her passion for coffee and building community.
