James Beard Best New Restaurant Semi-Finalist Saffron De Twah looks to be getting a few new siblings this year. Chef Omar Anani, the creator of Saffron De Twah’s award winning Moroccan flavors, has two new restaurants in the work at 16620 E Warren Ave, Hour Detroit reported earlier this year.

Specifics have stayed scarce about what those two restaurants. The most intriguing aspect of the project covered by Hour Detroit has to do with Anani’s efforts to improve compensation offered to restaurant employees. Saffron De Twah pays $15/hour, unusually high for restaurant pay, and the chef says the project at 16620 E Warren Ave includes free housing for employees.

The details there, as with those around the restaurant(s), were still being worked out at the time of the coverage.

What Now reached out to Chef Omar Anani on Thursday to inquire about plans for the new restaurants on Thursday. Anani was not immediately available for comment.

Meanwhile, recent coverage of another culinary project opening near by says that one of the new restaurants from Chef Anani will be a new Saffron De Twah.
