The experimental coffee company has found a new home in Eastern Market this year.
The owner of Coffeehaus Luke Kirtley has officially moved his headquarters to 2220 Gratiot in the neighborhood. Kirtley told What Now Detroit that along with the move, he plans on opening the space to the public this spring to sell coffee wholesale downstairs, and on the rooftop coffee from the company and other tenants will be served to the public.
“We dedicate our collective time and effort to help navigate the complex world of coffee,” says the description on their website.
The coffee company has a long history of serving the Detroit area, managing a pop-up coffee shop at Somerset Mall and selling their brews wholesale. The business also offers teas, milk and even tutorials on brewing and perfecting coffee. At the headquarters, their coffee will be sold and can be ordered for pickup.
A concept the company is adopting is incubator spaces, allowing local roasters and cafes to showcase their products. For the first incubator space, Coffeehaus will be serving their coffees and matchas. There are also plans to use outdoor space for summer events.
Coffeehaus’ headquarters is right at the corner of Gratiot and Hunt Street, across the street from Avenue Grill Restaurant. This is on the east side of the neighborhood, and Anthology Coffee is just a few blocks down. The space is currently open, but renovations are being done for the new additions.
