The Monroe News recently broke news on Culver’s breaking ground in the village at 16495 Tecumseh Street. This location has been planned for about a year. Co-owner and franchisee Sean Carleton said the target opening date is Dec. 29.

Construction began as of Monday, and it was announced by the Village of Dundee that the groundbreaking took place on Sept. 11. The nearest restaurant is in Monroe at 1899 N Telegraph Road.

The restaurant chain is known for its butterburgers, chicken sandwiches, seafood and fresh frozen custard. Founded in Sauk City, Wisconsin, there are over 1,000 franchised locations across the U.S. The other co-owner Gerry Olinik also owns locations in Allen Park and Chelsea.

The new Culver’s will be built near St. Julian Winery & Distillery, as well as Russell Stover Chocolates. This is on the west side of the city near other restaurants and shopping areas.
