According to an MLive article, DiBella’s Subs, which closed down nearly two years ago as the result of a devastating fire, will return to Ann Arbor in Spring 2024. Construction has started at 904 W. Eisenhower Parkway in the Cranbrook Village shopping center.
DiBella’s shut down after a fire in the shopping center in February 2022. The sandwich shop faced significant smoke and water damage which left most of its front-of-house and back-of-house equipment unusable. As a result, the Ann Arbor location practically had to start from ground zero.
“The first major obstacle was related to the building and the damage sustained from the fire. We had a lot of smoke and water damage that left so much of our equipment completely unusable. We had to basically rebuild our entire restaurant from the ground up. That took some significant time,” said Peter Fox, CEO, in an email.
With quality at its core, DiBella’s also took careful considerations in choosing partners to offer the best experience and flavors to the customers. According to Fox, it took the business more time than anticipated to find the right vendors and contractors. Additionally, the new DiBella’s will return with an updated look including the location’s flooring, walls, and light fixtures. However, customers can expect the same incredible menu and heartwarming hospitality from DiBella once the store reopens.
“We’ve learned a lot since then and have gradually made updates over time with lighting, flooring, and other interior design elements as we opened new DiBella’s locations. So, the re-opened Ann Arbor location will have all those newer features, but still have the same classic vibe we’re known for,” Fox said.
Overseen by CEO Peter Fox, DiBella’s is loved for its old-fashioned sandwiches and its dedication to the communities. Starting off as a small family-owned business in Rochester, NY, Dibella’s now has 44 locations across New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Connecticut, and Michigan. The Ann Arbor location was the 4th DiBella’s location ever built back in 2022.
“New guests will be “wowed” by what we believe is the most crave-able sub in America, and our returning guests will finally have the chance to enjoy what they’ve been missing for the last two years.”
