A good hangout area for those wanting to grab a cup of coffee with their dogs is opening in Hazel Park.
Coffee & Bark will be opening at 24141 John R Road, the second location for the company. According to co-owner Cher Jay Lee, it is under construction and is set to have a larger dog space. A late October or early November opening is planned.
The first Coffee & Bark at 2733 Coolidge Highway in Berkley last year. It offered iced and cold brews, espressos, teas, frappes and pastries. The dog zone or “BarkEasy” is located in the back of the building, where owners can sit with their dogs while enjoying a drink or pastry.
Due to the success of the first location, Lee and co-owner Shawn Heath-Lee immediately knew they wanted another space in the Detroit area. Their Hazel Park shop is being built at the corner of John R Road and W Morehouse Avenue. It will join restaurants across the street like Matt & Moe’s Italian Beef and Doug’s Delight Ice Cream.
“We knew from the beginning we wanted multiple locations,” Lee told What Now Detroit.
For the new location, the BarkEasy space will be in the front for more visibility through the window. The menu will be virtually the same, with co-working and event spaces just like the Berkley shop. Lee expects many to utilize the spaces for events like parties and baby showers.
“We’re actually really pumped about it,” Lee said.
