While dog owners’ furry friends are enjoying their play dates, guests will soon enjoy a coffee and bakery coming to Howell.
Paw Grounds is the newest cafe planned for Howell at 4060 E Grand River Avenue. This will be a coffee shop and bakery serving items for both customers and their dogs. Owner Stacie Phillips is hoping to open in March.
“It’s been a full run since July,” Phillips said.
The dog park will be one of the main draws for the new business. It can hold about 15 at a time, and there is a membership fee. Dogs of any size, from small to mature, will be welcome.
Phillips plans on serving drinks like coffees and dirty sodas, and various pastries like croissants. The space will also offer charcuterie boards, and Philips is putting a little twist on this with “pupcuterie” boards for the dogs. Specially made drinks are also being brewed for the pups.
Philips has been working on this project since January of last year. She started seriously pursuing the project in July, and in October a land request was given to the City of Howell. The space is at the west end of the Country Corners shopping center, close to spots like Little Caesar’s Pizza and Fusion Buffet Chinese restaurant. Paw Grounds is currently under construction.
The cafe, bakery and dog park will open by March, Phillips hopes, and after she hopes to receive the liquor license so she can serve drinks like dirty sodas. More information on the opening date for Paw Grounds can be found on their Instagram page @paw_grounds.
