A famous shrimp restaurant may be making a comeback in the near future.
On July 20, Dot & Etta’s announced there is “exciting news coming soon.” In a recent Instagram post, Co-Owner Zay Crawford said they are hoping to obtain a location in the city. Right now, it is not confirmed if the restaurant has an official new address.
It was confirmed the restaurant will not be in the original location at 9100 Mack Avenue. This was their staple restaurant until 2010. Since then, Dot & Etta’s has been hosting pop-up events at venues, including one tomorrow and Sunday on Mack Avenue.
The business has been known as a Detroit original spot for shrimp since 1951. It was initially started by the aunt of Co-Owner Dwayne Crawford. There have been four generations serving shrimp for the community, and they are hoping to have a permanent location again.
They regularly serve half-pound shrimp, one-pound shrimp, six-piece and 12-piece wings. The dinners served at pop-ups often have fries and coleslaw on the side. In 2022, Click on Detroit reported that the family would be opening a food truck or brick-and-mortar restaurant.
What Now Detroit has reached out to the owners about the potential future location, and this article may be updated. For more information on the new location, visit their Instagram @motorcityshrimp.
