This summer, the building at 16835 E Warren Ave on Detroit’s east side will start a new life as an incubator for local chefs and restaurant concepts. E. Warren Development Corp is launching a new commercial kitchen there, according to coverage by Bridge Detroit.

The shared commercial kitchen is set to open in the beginning of June. Diana Gomez, a food truck owner and manager of the shared kitchen says in the Bridge Detroit coverage that she envisions the space as something “in the middle from an incubator kitchen to a brick-and-mortar for food businesses.”

How so? Well, as the coverage points out, the kitchen “will offer unique benefits like local produce for renters to purchase, a compost program, and a service window to turn the kitchen into a pop-up take-out restaurant.”

The rate for the hot food line/bakery will be $27/hour; for the cold food line, $18/hour. The space will be available both for experience restaurant owners and budding restaurateurs looking to power up their dream projects.

In a second phase, the property’s parking lot will be developed with retail spaces for venders, community gathering areas, and the offices of E. Warren Development Corp.

What Now reached out on Thursday to E. Warren Development Corp. Executive Director Joe Rashid to ask about further details. Rashid was not immediately available.
