A new concept that promises a play area for kids and a cafe for parents is coming to the middle of the state.
From their social media, Red Cedar Play Cafe is set to open in the East Lansing/Okemos area sometime this year. Owner Sarah Farrar-DeLucia is creating a space that welcomes families and brings the community together. Farrar-DeLucia told What Now Detroit she does not have an opening date yet as she is working through lease negotiations.
“We combine safe, imaginative play, enriching programs, and a cozy cafe to create a space that feels like home for the whole family,” says the description on their website.
Farrar DeLucia is a mother who was partly inspired by her family to start the business. She is a graduate of Michigan State University and is a local of East Lansing, now finishing up her Army service contract. Now, she is a science teacher in the area.
A menu of drinks has not been released yet, but brews like lattes are to be expected based on renderings. The owner promises a “amazing cafe menu” when it is open. The business will be hiring for various positions very soon.
More information on the location once it is pinned down and the opening date can be found on their Instagram @redcedarplaycafe.
