Firebird Tavern is preparing to fire up their second location.
Co-owner Tony Piraino told What Now Detroit the restaurant at 4845 Rochester Road in Troy will have a similar vibe to the original downtown Detroit location, but with a somewhat modern twist. (The building where the new Firebird Tavern will be is almost 100 years younger than that of the original location.)
“We will uniquely fill a void that is in Troy,” Piraino said. “We think we’ve hit the missing thing in the city.”
In addition to the regular menu items customers enjoy at the Detroit location, the Troy outpost will also serve pizza, a menu addition made possible by a larger kitchen.
The restaurant, expected to open within the next few weeks, will have an outdoor patio with window access to the bar. Progress on the construction of the space has been documented on the location’s Instagram page.
Firebird Tavern was founded in 2013 with the flagship location at 419 Monroe Street in the Greektown district of Detroit. The restaurant owned by Piraino and Owen Burke serves sports-bar classics including wings, soft pretzels with house-made beer cheese, and burgers.
Firebird Tavern in Detroit hosts events (like trivia nights, karaoke nights, and indoor tailgates for Detroit Lions Sunday home games) and offers themed menus to go along with concerts and shows in the city (like Beyonce’s tour stop).
A restaurant called Sharks formerly occupied the Troy space where Firebird Tavern 2.0 is setting up shop.
Piraino said that Firebird Tavern could open additional locations down the line.
“We don’t want to be a chain, but maybe three or four locations,” he told What Now Detroit.
