The push for healthy eating continues to grow in Michigan, and Fit Bites is expanding with a second location on Merriman Road in Livonia. The new cafe will serve as an offshoot of the original location in Southgate.

The cafe was founded by husband-and-wife team Alex and Kristin Geldmacher. Kristin, a personal trainer and nutritionist, recognized a gap between healthy eating and the challenges of cost, time and cooking skills.

To help bridge that gap, the couple launched Fit Bites to make nutritious meals more accessible—especially for individuals dealing with issues such as bloating, headaches, depression, IBS, fatigue and diabetes.

The team carefully designs each meal, measuring macros and nutritional content, and using fresh, locally sourced ingredients known for their anti-inflammatory and gut-calming benefits.

The concept at the new location will remain the same, with Fit Bites preparing fresh meals daily and offering a variety of smoothies and protein drinks, including Banana Bread, Coconut Cream Pie and Berry Goddess.

The menu will also feature bakery items such as overnight oats and peanut butter brownies.

The Livonia location will introduce a fresh bar with made-to-order salads. Customers will be able to dine in, with a seating area available for enjoying meals on-site.

“Our food that’s created right now at Southgate, the meals will be transported over to Livonia,” Kristin told What Now Detroit. “We will have a lot more fridges there for people to grab and go.”

Kristin is most eager to spread the Fit Bite’s footprint, especially to people in the Livonia area who usually rely on delivery services.

“We offer delivery in all of these areas, but it’s such a different experience being able to come into the store, talk to us and experience the customer end where we can help answer your questions and help you with any nutrition services—so now we’re going to be able to offer it to more people and allow more people to come into the door,” Kristin said.

The cafe offers a variety of rotating meal plan options, updated every Monday, along with convenient grab-and-go meals.

Dishes include grilled chicken with broccoli salad and glazed carrots, smoky BBQ meatballs over cauliflower mash and a sweet kale power bowl with superfood turmeric chicken and carrot fries. Most meals range from $9.99 to $11.50.

While a date for the grand opening has not been set yet, Fit Bites plans to open in June.
