Foxtown will be seeing a new resident bar, Selden Gardens. The opening date of the new bar is currently unknown, as the owner Paul Howard was unavailable for comments when contacted by What Now Detroit on Wednesday.
Selden Gardens is slated to open on 73 West Elizabeth Street, according to permitting information. It will open next to Cliff Bell’s, where Howard is also a partner.
At the current time, the exact size of the bar is unknown, though it will be taking up space in the 14,400-square-foot Campau building.
The application for construction was approved on May 7, 2023. Alterations to the building will include exterior awnings and as well as outdoor seating for guests. Interior alterations will also be made, per permits, though mostly unknown it’s confirmed there will be a kitchen space.
From what is known, Howard is planning to create a nightclub environment next to the currently existing jazz club and restaurant, Cliff Bell’s. Howard is a known entrepreneur in the Detroit area. He is a partner of Bronx Bar and a quiet partner in Square Knot, LLC.
