Multi-unit franchisee Brad DeLange will be leading the expansion in the Detroit and Ann Arbor markets for Slim Chicken and is working on a new location at 5505 Arbor Chase Dr. The location received conditional approval from the Scio Township Planning Commission last November and is moving forward with construction.

DeLange is partnering with Leawood, KS-based developer Plaza Street Partners to construct the new restaurant. Plans are filed by partners Cylus Scarbrough and Ryanne Sass. Planning documents indicate the new 2,761-square-foot restaurant will contain an indoor dining area, a 410-square-foot patio with additional seating, and a double-lane drive-thru.

DeLange is an experienced multi-unit franchise operator and also owns several Jimmy John’s locations in mid-Michigan and northeast Ohio. The agreement DeLange signed with Slim Chickens includes multiple new locations across Detroit and Ann Arbor areas. DeLange will be opening these restaurants with Todd DeLange, and partner Doug Broadright, under their company Slims Great Lakes group.

“This is truly for the benefit of the community,” said DeLange. “It’s an opportunity to impact the people we brush shoulders with every day and we had to jump on it.”

Slims Great Lakes will open a total of 25 units in his target markets. Slim Chickens is also planning to enter the Grand Rapids market with another local franchisee, Finney Hospitality Group.
