What started as an at-home bakery in the Downriver area will soon be a full brick-and-mortar spot for boba teas and sweets.
Mommy & Me’s Boba Teas & Sweet Treats is a new business coming to 26314 E Huron Drive in Flat Rock soon. It is an extension of the owners’ bakery, serving more sweets like cookies, cakes and pastries. One of the owners Kimberly Barber told What Now Detroit they are hoping to debut the spot the first week of April.
The bakery has been serving the Downriver area and greater Detroit for about two years, specializing in cakes and cookies. With this new concept, the owners have seen teenagers and young adults in the area enjoy boba drinks, smoothies and cake pops from places like Starbucks, and wanted to provide a new option for Flat Rock.
“This community has a demand for that,” Barber said.
Many of the same cookies followers have come to love will be served at this location. In the past, flavors have included apple crisp, banana pudding M&M, chocolate mint chip and pumpkin spice. The new shop will also have sandwiches and hand-scooped ice cream.
The new shop is in the center of downtown Flat Rock, at the corner of Huron River Drive and Seneca Street. Sugar Island Baking Company is a few storefronts down, and this is also across the street from Captain Nemo’s Sandwiches. Flat Rock is about a half hour south of downtown Detroit.
